Newspaper Stamps

From 1774 until 1870 Irish newspapers and journals were subject to tax. 

Before printing, the paper was sent to the Stamp Office to be pre-stamped in red using printing plates.

2d newspaper stamp in use from 1806 to 1832.
1d newspaper stamp for the Irish Churchman.
1d newspaper stamp for the Dublin Evening Mail.
1854 Northern Whig with 1d newspaper stamp.

The Northern California Chapter of the Éire Philatelic Association will hold a meeting in conjunction with WESTPEX 2018 on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Room 8024.

The meeting will include a talk by noted philatelist Barry Cousins, who will speak on his current project; a reference guide for collectors of Irish stamps from 1992 through 2001.
